What is the HeatGuard Non-Slip Placemat ?
It is a single mat that sits under a benchtop appliance, an air fryer, a toaster, a kettle, a rice cooker, so the heat and the mess land on the mat instead of your benchtop.
What can I stand on it?
Anything that lives on the bench and gets hot. Air fryers, toasters, toaster ovens, kettles, rice cookers, slow cookers. It also works under a roasting dish coming out of the oven, so long as you're setting the dish down rather than leaving it to cook on.
Will it protect stone and timber benchtops?
It puts a layer between the appliance and the surface, which is what stops the direct contact heat. It isn't a substitute for following your appliance's own clearance instructions — anything that vents hot air downwards or sideways still needs the clearance the manufacturer specifies.
Does it slide around?
No. It grips the bench, so pulling the air fryer forward to open the drawer doesn't drag the mat with it. That's the thing most people notice first.
How do I clean it?
Wipe it with a damp cloth when you wipe the bench. For anything baked on, warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Don't put it through the dishwasher or scrub it with anything abrasive.
